Batch numbers that do not match the vial label posts 31–49
This is a continuation of a long topic, addressed by post number rather than by page. Start at post 1 · go to the accepted answer.
That reframing is the whole thing. The facts I already had.
Adding a null result on batch numbers. I looked, carefully, and found nothing, and null results deserve posting precisely because they never are.
Where somebody posts a concern, ask what would resolve it before arguing about it. Half of these threads end with a document nobody had asked for.
A supplier changing batch nomenclature is not a warning sign, and it does make historical comparison harder until a mapping exists.
The most useful contribution to this subcategory is a resolved case written up with the resolution, because the unresolved ones are all anyone remembers.
Two people can read the same figure differently here and both be reasonable.
I would rather this thread reach "we do not know" about batch numbers than reach a confident answer that nobody can support when asked.
Appreciated. The plain phrasing does more work here than a longer post would.
Evasion when asked: if a supplier does not clarify when asked specifically for method details, counter-ion form, or batch origin, that itself is a red flag worth documenting.
Keep the two claims separate. "The result on this lot did not match the certificate" is a report that can be checked. "This supplier is dishonest" is an allegation about intent and nothing in a chromatogram supports it.
It is one reading of the data and not the only reasonable one.
Post #45 answers the question as asked. The question underneath it is different.
The reason batch numbers keeps being re-asked is that the answer is conditional and people quote it without the condition. It is not that the answer is unknown.

Worth separating two things that post #45 runs together.
Reporting something here requires the batch, the date, the method and the document, which is exactly what makes the reports worth reading two years later.
Marking my uncertainty on batch numbers explicitly. I am confident about the direction, much less confident about the size, and not confident at all that it generalises past the case in the first post.
