Mood changes: monitoring, and when to involve a professional — what changed since Writing it up because I had to work it out twice and would rather nobody else did.

What changes if the standard account of Mood changes is wrong? I ask because I have been treating it as settled and I noticed this week that I could not say why.

Working through the consequences rather than the evidence, since others here are better placed on the evidence.

Where medication for mental health is already in place, the interaction question belongs with a pharmacist and the mood question belongs with the prescriber.

If anyone can point at the primary source I would be grateful.

Where I part company with the opening post, and it is a narrow parting.

Tracking mood alongside dose and weeks, on a simple scale, produces a record that is far more useful than a recollection at an appointment.

When to involve a professional: if mood changes are persistent, deepen over weeks, or interfere with function, involving a mental health professional is appropriate. These are not trivialities to ignore.

Not a strong opinion, just a consistent one.

This follows post #9 rather than contradicting it.

Any change in mood that is persistent, or that includes thoughts of self-harm, is a reason to contact a clinician rather than a thread. That is stated plainly here as a matter of course.
