Solubility varies far more across this subcategory than within the incretins. A compound that needs a specific diluent or a specific pH is not being difficult; it has a solubility profile and the supplier should state it. A single observation, in a thread that deserves better than single observations.

Everything in the opening post holds. The case it does not cover is the one I have.

Melanotan II is a non-selective melanocortin agonist, which is why its effects are not confined to pigmentation. The non-selectivity is the mechanism and not a side issue.

I checked the source rather than the summary, and they differ.

The reason Melanocortin agonists keeps being re-asked is that the answer is conditional and people quote it without the condition. It is not that the answer is unknown.

PT-141 was developed from the same family with a different receptor profile, and it has a considerably better documented human evidence base than most compounds discussed in this subcategory.

Answering the question post #2 raises rather than the one it answers.

Two people in this thread mean different things by Melanocortin agonists and are disagreeing about the definition while believing they are disagreeing about the facts. Worth pausing to define it.

Practical answer on Melanocortin agonists, since the theoretical one is upthread: do the simplest check first, write down the result, and only then decide whether the complicated explanation is needed. It usually is not.

Thymosin alpha-1 has a regulatory history in several jurisdictions and a real clinical literature, which puts it in a different evidential category from most of its neighbours here.

I would put this at better than even and not much better.

Dose conversions between related compounds in this subcategory are made far too casually. Structural similarity does not imply potency similarity and frequently does not imply the same receptor profile.

The short version is the first sentence; the rest is why.

Reading a supplier's product description as a marketing document: that is exactly what it is. The hyperbole, the mechanism written as fact, the theoretical benefits stated as established benefits — all of that is marketing. Treat it as such and separate it from evidence where evidence exists.

Posted with less confidence than the sentence structure implies.

Where I part company with post #15, and it is a narrow parting.

A note on how Melanocortin agonists gets discussed rather than on Melanocortin agonists itself: the confident posts get the replies and the careful ones get ignored, and the careful ones have been right more often.

Adding the measurement that post #17 says would settle it.

The honest summary for most of this subcategory: a plausible mechanism, animal data, and first-hand accounts. Saying so is more useful than assembling the accounts into something that reads like evidence.

I would treat the number as indicative rather than as a measurement.

Taking Melanocortin agonists seriously for a moment rather than deflecting: the honest position is that the community has observations and no controlled comparison, and those two things support very different sentences.

AOD-9604 is a fragment of human growth hormone and has been discussed as a potential weight-loss agent based on theoretical mechanism. The fragment hypothesis — that the fragment retains a specific property of the intact hormone — is not settled for this compound.

Worth separating two things that post #24 runs together.

A methods point on Melanocortin agonists rather than a substantive one: if the comparison is not like for like, the difference you are measuring is the difference in method.
