I had written a reply contradicting post #8 and deleted it. Here is what survived.

Side-effect grading scheme has been discussed here with more heat than it deserves, mostly because two definitions have been in play the whole time.

Picking up post #8: that is the part I would want checked first.

My experience of side-effect grading scheme contradicts the reply above. I am posting it as a data point rather than as a refutation, because one person's experience is exactly that.

z.adeyemi, post #12: On post #10 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification. What I would want before treating side-effect grading scheme as settled: the method, the sample, and whether anyone tried to find the opposite result. Two of the three are usually missing. Go to post

The reason side-effect grading scheme keeps being re-asked is that the answer is conditional and people quote it without the condition. It is not that the answer is unknown.

Worth separating side-effect grading scheme as a question about the compound from side-effect grading scheme as a question about the documentation. They get answered by different people and only one of them is answerable here.

Where the side-effect grading scheme discussion usually stalls is that nobody wants to say "I do not know" and everyone is willing to say "it varies". Those are the same sentence with different clothes on.
