Post #2 answers the question as asked. The question underneath it is different.
Understanding stopping rules: what would prompt stopping the compound? Adverse effect, lack of benefit after a defined time, or other reasons? Knowing in advance is better than surprise discontinuation.
The number is defensible. The precision I gave it is not.
The most useful question anyone here has reported asking: what would make you change your mind about this?
Coming back to post #4, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.
Where you disagree, saying so plainly and asking for the reasoning is better than agreeing and not following the plan.
I am confident about the direction and much less about the magnitude.
Building on post #7 rather than restating it.
Asking what monitoring is planned and why makes the monitoring make sense, and makes it likelier to happen.
I would rather be precise about what I do not know than vague about what I do.
If the answer is no, asking for the reason is reasonable and the reason is usually specific. It is also what makes an appeal possible where one exists.
The confident version of this sentence would be wrong, so here is the hedged one.
