On the subject in the title: Payment mechanics and the recovery options that do not exist Working notes rather than a conclusion.

A payments question, with the mechanics separated from the money.

What I would like to understand is what each payment route actually leaves you holding afterwards: what is recorded, who holds the record, and what can be produced later if a consignment has to be discussed. That is a different question from which route is cheapest.

I have listed what I keep at the moment below. I would like to know what is missing from it rather than whether it is enough.

Currency conversion: payment in your local currency often involves a conversion fee. Paying in the supplier's native currency sometimes saves money, sometimes costs more. Compare before committing.

I read post #4 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

A first order deliberately smaller than you need is the standard risk-limiting approach here and it costs a little more per unit for a reason.

I would rather be precise about what I do not know than vague about what I do.

Post #6 is the version of this I will quote in future. One addition.

Payment mechanics: most suppliers accept bank transfer, crypto, and some accept credit cards. Each has different risk and different fees. Understand before you commit to a payment method.

I have written this out at length because the short version keeps being misread.

Where I part company with post #8, and it is a narrow parting.

Recurring billing: if a supplier sets up recurring billing by default, understanding the terms for cancellation is important before the first charge.

Not a conclusion. A place to stand while looking for one.
