Post #5 is the version of this I will quote in future. One addition.

The most useful reply I ever got about Insomnia was a request to state my units. It sounds like pedantry and it has saved me twice.

m.balogun, post #5: Any objective measurement, even an imprecise one, beats a recollection when the question is whether something changed. Stating my assumptions rather than smuggling them in. Go to post

Reporting rather than recommending, on Insomnia. What happened is above. Whether it should have is a different question and not one I am qualified to answer.

m.almeida, post #15: What I would tell a new member reading about Insomnia for the first time: the confident posts are not the reliable ones, and the reliable ones are longer. Go to post

The practical version of Insomnia is three sentences long. The rigorous version is three pages and reaches the same conclusion with the conditions attached.

Insomnia is worth one more sentence than it usually gets, and the sentence is the one about how the number was arrived at.

Vivid dreams are reported here and are not well characterised in the published literature for this class.

On balance I think that is right, and I would not bet much on it.

What I want from this Insomnia thread is the list of things that would need to be true for the claim to hold. If we can write that list, we can check it.
