One question about the transition rather than the policy: what happens to topics that are in flight when it takes effect? The announcement is clear about posts and silent about drafts.

It is the sort of thing that seems obvious in retrospect and was not at the time.

Understood. Thank you for being specific about the limits of it.

I came in to disagree and I am leaving without a disagreement.

Picking up post #60: that is the part I would want checked first.

The practical version of new subcategory is three sentences long. The rigorous version is three pages and reaches the same conclusion with the conditions attached.

an.kirchner, post #47: I would be cautious about generalising from the new subcategory example above. It is a good example. It is one example. Go to post

New subcategory sits at the boundary between what this community can usefully discuss and what it cannot, and I think it falls on the discussable side, narrowly.

Worth separating two things that post #73 runs together.

The edit is clearer. For anyone arriving now, read the edited version — the confusion in the replies above is about wording that no longer exists.

A guess, clearly labelled as one.

Taking post #81 at face value and following it one step further.

Adding a reference point for new subcategory. Mine is a single case, collected without controls, and I am posting the method alongside it so it can be discounted appropriately.

Good question, well framed, and I would like to see it answered properly.

Picking up post #133: that is the part I would want checked first.

One caution on new subcategory: everything above assumes the underlying documentation is what it claims to be. That assumption is doing real work and is rarely stated.
