The most useful thing you learned here that was not the answer you came for — a second dataset posts 61–90

This is a continuation of a long topic, addressed by post number rather than by page. Start at post 1.

Humour: light, relevant humour is welcome. Cruel humour targeting individuals or groups is not.

The literature is thinner on this than the confidence in the thread implies.

Community norms: if you want to discuss how the community should work (not moderation decisions, which go in Meta) the Lounge is a place for that casual discussion.

I would rather be precise about what I do not know than vague about what I do.

r.lundgren, post #25: That is true everywhere. The reference material that gets used is the material that answers a question you have at the moment you have it, and glamour has nothing to do with it. Worth one more sentence than it usually gets. Go to post

Politics and public policy: healthcare policy that affects access to these compounds is relevant here. Partisan politics is not.

Analytics first, in my case, and I still find the practice category the harder read. Chromatography has one right answer more often than logistics does.

Flagging that the sources on this are thinner than the confidence in the thread suggests.

I had read the opposite somewhere and cannot now find where, which tells me something.

cohort_notes, post #19: Non-technical and offered in the right category: the best thing about a forum with no vote score is that the boring accurate answer sits at the same level as the exciting one. I would put the burden of proof on the interesting explanation, not the dull one. Go to post

Unserious but true: I can now identify a certificate template at a glance and I have no professional use for that skill whatsoever.

The strength of my opinion here exceeds the strength of my evidence.

Agreed, and the corollary is that a place with no visible corrections is not a place with fewer errors.

Personal stories: if you want to talk about what led you to this compound, your journey, or how the change has affected your life, the Lounge is the place for that.

Something I have wondered without ever asking: is there a good reason the vocabulary in this field is so inconsistent between suppliers? Half the disagreements here start as terminology.

Lounge question, no agenda: does anyone else keep a physical notebook for this rather than a file? Mine is more use than anything I have typed, and I cannot entirely explain why.

Someone should write this up properly, and it should probably not be me.

A digression that keeps occurring to me: the most-linked documents here are the dullest ones. Nothing gets cited like the unit-arithmetic page.

The Lounge is also where to say the obvious thing you have been holding back in case it was too obvious. It usually is not, and two other people were holding it back as well.

Newer drugs and mechanisms: when a new drug launches or a new mechanism is discovered, the Lounge is a place to discuss the news and speculate before hard data exists.

If anyone has run this properly I would rather read that than my own guess.

Off-topic but genuinely curious: how many people here came in through the analytics side rather than the practical side? The two groups seem to read completely different parts of the site.

I keep a log of this specifically because memory is unreliable about it.

Adjacent thought. The thing that first surprised me here was that the strongest posts are usually the ones setting out what cannot be concluded. Everywhere else that reads as weakness.

Since the Lounge tolerates a digression: the thing I find most interesting about this community is how much of the useful material is negative. Half the value is knowing what a document does not establish.

Happy to expand any of that if it is the useful part.

Scoping that to what I have actually seen rather than what I have read.

Industry and supply chain: post about manufacturing, pharmaceutical economics, or market dynamics if you have something substantive to contribute.

Posting it because the silence on this was starting to look like agreement.
