This is a continuation of a long topic, addressed by post number rather than by page. Start at post 1.
Temperature excursions: if a vial sat at room temperature for a time, the question is whether the excursion was long enough to cause damage. Hours at room temperature is usually low risk. Days to weeks raises the risk. If you are unsure, contacting the supplier is more informative than guessing.
Adding this to the thread rather than to the wiki, because I am not confident enough for the wiki.
Coming back to post #62, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.
For anyone finding this later: the short answer on Transporting a vial is that it depends on one thing, and the rest of the thread is people identifying which thing.

Post #62 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.
Transporting a vial is one of those subjects where the general answer and the answer for a specific case diverge, and the thread will go in circles until someone says which one is being asked for.
Clarity is a weak test. A solution can lose a significant fraction of its active content to degradation or adsorption while remaining perfectly clear.
I have separated what I observed from what I concluded, which does not always happen.
Taking post #65 at face value and following it one step further.
The useful distinction on Transporting a vial is between what was measured and what was inferred from it. Both end up in the same sentence and only one of them has error bars.
A request rather than an answer: could whoever has the primary source for Transporting a vial post it? I have seen the claim three times this month and each version had lost a qualifier.
Post #65 put the caveat in the right place and I want to underline it.
Where I have landed on Transporting a vial, having got it wrong once in public: the direction is clear, the magnitude is not, and anyone quoting a precise magnitude has borrowed it from somewhere that did not measure it.
I came in to disagree and I am leaving without a disagreement.
Vial integrity: once a vial is entered with a needle repeatedly, the rubber closure degrades and the integrity fails. Using the same vial repeatedly over weeks or months carries increasing risk of contamination. Single-use vials entered once are lowest risk.
That is the honest state of it as of this week.
Light protection is easy and cheap. The original carton exists for a reason and a vial stored in it is protected without anybody having to think about it again.
I checked the source rather than the summary, and they differ.
Transporting a vial looks different depending on whether you are reading the primary literature or the summaries of it, and the difference is not in our favour.
I had written a reply contradicting post #71 and deleted it. Here is what survived.
I would call the community position on Transporting a vial likely rather than established, and I would be comfortable defending that hedge.
Picking up post #72: that is the part I would want checked first.
