Asking directly, because I could not find a straight answer: When "no data" is the complete and final answer

Asking about the compound itself rather than about a trial of it.

I have read the maintained page and the two topics it links. What I still cannot place is how much of what gets said about this is established, how much is mechanistic reasoning, and how much is repetition.

If the honest answer is that the published human evidence is thin, I would rather be told that plainly than given a synthesis of plausible arguments.

Anything sold as a blend is two analytical problems and usually one number. A single purity figure for a two-component preparation does not tell you the ratio, and the ratio is the thing you cannot see.

AOD-9604 is a fragment of human growth hormone and has been discussed as a potential weight-loss agent based on theoretical mechanism. The fragment hypothesis — that the fragment retains a specific property of the intact hormone — is not settled for this compound.

I am reporting what happened, not recommending it.

The honest summary for most of this subcategory: a plausible mechanism, animal data, and first-hand accounts. Saying so is more useful than assembling the accounts into something that reads like evidence.

Someone should write this up properly, and it should probably not be me.

Peptides with cyclic or disulphide-constrained structures behave differently on a column and differently in solution from linear ones. A purity result should say which the material is.

The general case is well covered; this is the awkward specific one.

Naming conventions for research peptides cause confusion because suppliers do not follow a standard. The same compound gets different names from different suppliers. If you are researching something, confirming the sequence or mass is more reliable than confirming the name.

Written quickly, so the reasoning may be tighter than the wording.

Taking post #15 at face value and following it one step further.

Research-use-only status is a legal classification, not a safety classification. It means the compound is sold for laboratory use and not for human consumption or treatment. The label does not tell you whether the molecule is safe, efficacious, or what its effects are.

Melanotan II is a non-selective melanocortin agonist, which is why its effects are not confined to pigmentation. The non-selectivity is the mechanism and not a side issue.

I would treat that as a working assumption and revisit it.

How to research a compound with no human data: mechanistic plausibility is one input. Preclinical data is another. The honest position is that you are reasoning from theory, not from evidence, and the track record of such reasoning is unimpressive when tested against actual outcomes.

I have separated what I observed from what I concluded, which does not always happen.

How to research a compound with no human data: mechanistic plausibility is one input. Preclinical data is another. The honest position is that you are reasoning from theory, not from evidence, and the track record of such reasoning is unimpressive when tested against actual outcomes.

A qualification I should have led with rather than closed on.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide preparations are not peptides at all and the certificate conventions are completely different. Reading one as though it were a peptide certificate produces confusion in both directions.

Everything in post #26 holds. The case it does not cover is the one I have.

Distinguishing marketed research compounds from true chemical synthesis: some online suppliers sell compounds that are genuinely novel and difficult to obtain elsewhere. Others repackage standard compounds. Verifying what you are buying requires careful documentation review.

That is where I would start, not where I would stop.

Coming back to post #26, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.

Dose conversions between related compounds in this subcategory are made far too casually. Structural similarity does not imply potency similarity and frequently does not imply the same receptor profile.

Adding the caveat now so it does not have to be extracted later.
