Rate of change matters more than the absolute number for most of the questions people ask about their own series.

The arithmetic in post #89 is right; the assumption feeding it is the part to check.

Progress reports that describe an ordinary trajectory are more useful than remarkable ones and are far rarer, because only the remarkable ones feel worth posting.

That is what I would do. It may not be what is correct.

A single scale used throughout beats a more accurate scale introduced halfway through. Consistency beats accuracy for a trend.

That is the shape of it. The detail is where I would expect to be corrected.
