Follow-up: A supplier that answers analytical questions with restated claims

I read the opening post twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

Safety documentation absent: a supplier that cannot provide information about sterility testing, endotoxin testing, or safety documentation when asked is raising flags.

Old habit: I write down the expected answer before I calculate it.

Keep the two claims separate. "The result on this lot did not match the certificate" is a report that can be checked. "This supplier is dishonest" is an allegation about intent and nothing in a chromatogram supports it.

Reading it back, the second half matters more than the first.

On supplier, I would rather understate and be corrected upward than overstate and be quoted. That is a house style here and it is a good one.

Documentation quality as a signal: a supplier that reports method identifiers, distinguishes specification from result, and states the counter-ion form is telling you something about systems behind the document. A certificate that is a number and a signature tells you less.

Post #41 describes the usual case. This is about the unusual one.

Evasion when asked: if a supplier does not clarify when asked specifically for method details, counter-ion form, or batch origin, that itself is a red flag worth documenting.

Caveat: everything above assumes the paperwork is what it says it is.
