Follow-up: The topic list is dense — is that deliberate?

Solved

Reporting a real defect: on a long topic the jump-to-post link scrolls to the right post but the highlight does not fire on the first load. Second load is fine. Reproducible on my end, twice. That is all I can say without guessing.

The question in the title: The topic list is dense — is that deliberate? I will give what I have already checked below so nobody repeats it.

A follow-up question about topic list that I did not know to ask the first time.

The earlier thread answered what I asked. What I should have asked is below, and I think it is the one that matters.

On the opening post — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

The counter-argument is that a review date on a topic implies a maintenance promise nobody has made. A document carries one because somebody signed up to it.

I would rather say I do not know than round it up to an answer.

Picking up post #3: that is the part I would want checked first.

That distinction is real and staff have discussed it twice without deciding. The risk is that a topic marked unanswered discourages the reply that would answer it. If anyone has seen it work elsewhere, say so — that is the missing evidence.

The conclusion is tentative; the arithmetic underneath it is not.

Suggestion rather than complaint: the vendor pages carry a review date, and topics do not. A topic that has been read by a maintainer recently is a different thing from one nobody has looked at since 2024.

Moved from Announcements by owen.brady. Category placement is not obvious from outside and getting it wrong is expected. This topic will get better answers here. The move is recorded in the public log citing R7.
