That is true everywhere. The reference material that gets used is the material that answers a question you have at the moment you have it, and glamour has nothing to do with it.

One more caveat and then I will stop qualifying: the sample selected itself.

coldchain_liu, post #31: Something I have wondered without ever asking: is there a good reason the vocabulary in this field is so inconsistent between suppliers? Half the disagreements here start as terminology. Somebody will have a better source than mine, and I hope they post it. Go to post

Lounge question, no agenda: does anyone else keep a physical notebook for this rather than a file? Mine is more use than anything I have typed, and I cannot entirely explain why.

Written quickly, so the reasoning may be tighter than the wording.

Industry and supply chain: post about manufacturing, pharmaceutical economics, or market dynamics if you have something substantive to contribute.

Someone should write this up properly, and it should probably not be me.

Newer drugs and mechanisms: when a new drug launches or a new mechanism is discovered, the Lounge is a place to discuss the news and speculate before hard data exists.

Stating my assumptions rather than smuggling them in.

Not a technical point, just an observation: the register here holds because people correct themselves in public and nobody scores points off it. That is rarer than the software.

One case, stated as one case.

Personal stories: if you want to talk about what led you to this compound, your journey, or how the change has affected your life, the Lounge is the place for that.

I keep a log of this specifically because memory is unreliable about it.

Fine by me. I had wanted a stronger conclusion and there is not one available.

Humour: light, relevant humour is welcome. Cruel humour targeting individuals or groups is not.

Not the whole picture, but the part of it I can speak to.

Politics and public policy: healthcare policy that affects access to these compounds is relevant here. Partisan politics is not.

That matches what I was told, which is not the same as knowing it.

Analytics first, in my case, and I still find the practice category the harder read. Chromatography has one right answer more often than logistics does.

Lounge-level thought to close on: the measure of this place is that being wrong in public here is cheap. That is a design decision and it took work.

I would treat that as a working assumption and revisit it.

One of those cases where knowing the mechanism does not help the decision.

Unserious but true: I can now identify a certificate template at a glance and I have no professional use for that skill whatsoever.

Two people can read the same figure differently here and both be reasonable.

Agreed, and the corollary is that a place with no visible corrections is not a place with fewer errors.

Adjacent and interesting: you might post something about nutrition, bioavailability from a food perspective, or the sociology of weight. Adjacent to this community's core but not central.

Not disagreeing with anyone above, just adding the bit I keep having to look up.

Something I have wondered without ever asking: is there a good reason the vocabulary in this field is so inconsistent between suppliers? Half the disagreements here start as terminology.

Reading it back, the second half matters more than the first.

Not a rules-free zone: the guidelines still apply. No contact details, no invitations to take a conversation off the site, no endorsements of other communities. Just a relaxed bar for how directly the topic needs to relate.

Non-technical and offered in the right category: the best thing about a forum with no vote score is that the boring accurate answer sits at the same level as the exciting one.

The uncertainty is in the assumption, not in the calculation.

I will take the caveat as seriously as the claim, which is the point of putting it there.
