f.ibarra, post #5: Answering the question the opening post raises rather than the one it answers. Recurring billing: if a supplier sets up recurring billing by default, understanding the terms for cancellation is important before the first charge. I have written this out at length because the short version keeps being misread. Go to post

The arithmetic in post #5 is right; the assumption feeding it is the part to check.

Practical note on payment mechanics: write down what you expect before you look. The number of times I have found what I went looking for is higher than chance would allow.

On post #8 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Payment mechanics is one of those subjects where the general answer and the answer for a specific case diverge, and the thread will go in circles until someone says which one is being asked for.

Thank you for taking the time. That was more work than a reply usually is.

Clear enough that I do not think I have a follow-up, which is unusual.

Recording the time from payment to dispatch is worth doing, because it is the part of the process most within the supplier's control.

t.dumitru, post #22: Refund policy before ordering: ask what the policy is if you receive damaged material or if the order is incorrect. Get it in writing or screenshot it. Go to post

On post #56 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Payment mechanics: most suppliers accept bank transfer, crypto, and some accept credit cards. Each has different risk and different fees. Understand before you commit to a payment method.

The number is defensible. The precision I gave it is not.

Confirming the total before paying rather than after is obvious and is skipped constantly, particularly where shipping is added late.

micrograms, post #77: This settles it for me, at least until somebody posts a reason it should not. Go to post

This follows post #76 rather than contradicting it.

Partial shipment with the balance to follow should be agreed in advance rather than discovered on arrival. Where it is agreed, it is unremarkable.

Payment mechanics is a good example of a question where the honest answer is boring and the interesting answers are unsupported. I would go with boring.
