Benzyl alcohol as a preservative is also a solubiliser for some peptides, which is an incidental property that occasionally matters.

Preservatives: solutions for multi-dose vials contain preservatives (benzyl alcohol, phenol, or others) to inhibit microbial growth after the vial has been entered. Single-use vials do not need preservatives.
A partial answer, offered because a partial answer beats none.

ka.batista, post #2: Where I part company with the opening post, and it is a narrow parting. Agreed on Preservatives, with one qualification that I think matters. The reasoning holds for the case as described. Change the starting assumption and it does not, and the starting assumption is the part nobody states. Go to post
A request rather than an answer: could whoever has the primary source for Preservatives post it? I have seen the claim three times this month and each version had lost a qualifier.

Emulsification and suspensions: some formulations are emulsions or suspensions rather than solutions. Semaglutide formulations are solutions; some other compounds are suspensions. The physical form affects stability and administration.
