Posting this under the heading it deserves: Requesting a page: what makes a good request — what changed since Everything below is what sits behind that.

What changes if the standard account of Requesting a page is wrong? I ask because I have been treating it as settled and I noticed this week that I could not say why.

Working through the consequences rather than the evidence, since others here are better placed on the evidence.

Review cadence should be part of the proposal. A page about a fast-moving area needs a shorter cycle and somebody willing to honour it.

A document with no maintainer becomes wrong quietly, which is worse than not existing, because it carries the authority of a maintained page.

If it helps: the failure mode here is usually boring rather than dramatic.

The arithmetic in post #48 is right; the assumption feeding it is the part to check.

Link the topics that prompted the request. The discussion is the evidence that the question recurs.

Requests for a page summarising a supplier are declined, because that is what the vendor documentation set is for and it has its own standards.

It is worth checking rather than assuming, which costs nothing.

Useful. I have added it to my own notes with the date on it.

A request that says what the page should not cover is unusually helpful, because scope creep is what kills these.

Suggesting content for a page: if you know a maintained page is missing something important, post a suggestion with specific content you think should be added.

Post #138 answers the question as asked. The question underneath it is different.

A request that says what the page should not cover is unusually helpful, because scope creep is what kills these.

Written in the hope of being told what I have missed.
